Adriano Elia (University Roma Tre) and Serena I. Volpi (LdM Florence, Università Roma Tre) will present their monograph: Blacknology: Black Literature, Culture, and Technology. Respondent: Francesca Caraceni (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milano)
BIOS
Adriano Elia is an Associate Professor of English in the Department of Political Science at Roma Tre University. His publications include books and essays on W.E.B. Du Bois, Langston Hughes, Hanif Kureishi, Octavia E. Butler, Afrofuturism, contemporary British fiction and poetry, and the word-painting technique. He is the Principal Investigator of the EU-funded research project Between Text and Performance: Race and Gender in Anglophone Literatures and Cultures (1970s–today).
Serena I. Volpi is a Lecturer in Anthropology at Lorenzo de’ Medici, The Italian International Institute, Florence.
She has recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship funded by NextGenerationEU within the context of the project Between Text and Performance: Race and Gender in Anglophone Literatures and Cultures (1970s-today). She has published on African-American anthropology, Indigenous futurism, Italian colonialism, and Black literary and visual arts between the Americas and the U.K.

Francesca Caraceni is Assistant Professor in Literature at the Catholic University of Milan. Her main areas of interest cover Victorian Studies, Modernism, Translation theory and practice, and the interplay of Religion and Art. She has published essays and contributions on Samuel Butler, James Joyce, W. B. Yeats, and John Henry Newman among others. She is currently researching the literary legacy of John Henry Newman in 20th Century Ireland.
